What replaces OpenAI Prism?

Short answer: OpenAI Codex. OpenAI is shutting down Prism, its free writing workspace for scientists, on Jan 1, 2027, and its migration guide moves your projects' LaTeX files to Codex. Codex can read, edit and build the files, but it isn't a shared live editor like Prism.

What to do: Export your Prism projects before Jan 1, 2027 (Settings > Data Controls > Export all projects), because all Prism data is deleted after the shutdown and can't be recovered. Project history, inline comments, collaborators and the live Zotero connection don't move with the files, so save anything you need from them, and plan how co-authors will share files from now on.
